Also the course thread gives good "bite" in softer wood. I use these screws for general wood working as well as with my Kreg jig. They really work well since their flat head does not tend to split the wood like dry wall screws do.
Wherever you have a pocket hole application, or wherever you don't mind a visible screw head (not countersunk, although they could be counterbored), use a washer head screw for maximum clamping. They run in fast and easy. Oh, and I haven't broken any off yet, like many other screws. These washer head screws are fantastic. They clamp the parts tightly without splitting the wood.
